A: You may be amazed when you learn about all of the ways to improve patient care as well as optimize your revenue.  Ancillary allergy in ENT practices is just that: ancillary.  At MedAllergy we eat sleep and drink allergy 24/7.  Let’s keep it simple. If you are practicing the typical ENT approach to allergy, AllerGen will increase your NET revenue by at least 50%.  And, this will all be achieved in a way you can feel great about.  No funny business, no treading into grey areas, and your patients will thank you for it!

A: MedAllergy RX is your portal to order compounded immunotherapy prescriptions to your specifications.  Its simple, all online and has a user-friendly interface. AllerGen is MedAllergy’s way of practicing allergy. Its a comprehensive system that uses MedAllergy RX prescriptions combined with  web-based software and online and optional live training for your staff.  AllerGen comprehensively manages the entire allergy workflow in your allergy department.

A: Using MedAllergy RX is all upside. No inventory to buy, no compliance problems, and prices to make it a no-brainer. When you choose to optimize your allergy program with AllerGen, there are the same challenges that any practices faces when changing a long-standing process, except that we send our implementation team to sort it out and you don’t have to.  Allergy departments  are often somewhat autonomous and change comes hard for some.  Our safety protocols may seem like overkill for nurses or MAs that are stuck in their routine. But safety is paramount when striving for higher target doses. It is important for all providers to be fully committed to the new program and support the MedAllergy implementation team as they retrain your department and design a renewed allergy workflow to go with it.  Provider support is key, and with it we will have your staff feeling great about your new allergy process in no time.

A: No, the AllerGen utilizes a qualitative testing methodology rather than quantitative. This is for a couple of reasons. Firstly, because we are shooting for higher target dose than the typical ENT method, it is safer to start everyone on the lowest dose and bring all patients through the entire ramp-up schedule. Simply put, we do not cut short the ramp-up based on the size of the wheal. Secondly, the system is designed to let the symptoms guide the testing process. Part of the history interview asks not just what symptoms occur, but what time of year as well. We start off with prick testing using an 8 pronged prick device. Then the results are compared with the seasonal symptom history. Positive skin tests in the absence of correlating symptoms may be false positives. 55% of people test positive to at least one antigen when skin tested. 55% of people do not need immunotherapy. We can give you a dissertation on the advantages of qualitative over quantitative testing. Get in touch for more details.

A:We recommend that your current patients stay on their current regime and AllerGen is used with all new test patients. To accomplish this, its best to assign a different staff member to give shots on the old protocol. We think it’s safer to not have one person managing two different treatment schedules if possible. Inevitably, after the new program as been up and running for a few months and you start to see the results, you will want to transition some of your old maintenance patients to the new higher dose and we have a mini ramp-up schedule for that purpose.

A:  MedAllergy RX does have an API so that data can be synced between platforms. APIs are clunky and beware of of any software salesman that tells you differently. We’ve been doing this a long time, since 2012, and have intentionally designed a simple interface that can be customized without a lot of drama. For AllerGen customers, we have a super simple indirect interface by hyperlink available for all practices with no additional fees. At the conclusion of each test, AllerGen generates a hyperlink. This link is pasted into your EMR, which provides easy access to allergy history, orders, consent forms, and injection data. Each link is patient specific, meaning there is no dashboard or searching once in the system. The link takes you directly to data for that patient and is HIPAA compliant.

A: Sorry, MedAllergy is not a software company, however,  MedAllergy RX isn’t only an ordering portal for immunotherapy prescriptions. This web based system also captures patient test results and generates full color customized hand-outs and education materials for each patient. These features are included for all MedAllergy RX compounding customers. Our AllerGen product works with MedAllergy RX and  is the way we do allergy. The AllerGen software is the tool we use to implement that process.

A: MedAllergy recommends that all injections are administered in a clinical setting under the supervision of staff that is capable of managing an adverse reaction, should one occur. This is in accordance with published guidelines.

A: MedAllergy does not provide hardware. You will need a computer with internet access and a barcode reader ($200). Additionally, AllerGen customers need an iPad mini ($200) to collect electronic patient signatures for consent forms.
